Workplace EDI Initiative
EDIfice
Created by a group of students, EDIfice is a project intended to help inform workers and companies on how to minimize bias and discrimination within the workplace. Developing a consistent brand identity for this project establishes a concrete presence and sense of professionalism that helps to legitimize both our information and our efforts as a group.
Logo
Given the dual meaning of the word “edifice” (1. a large, imposing building; 2. a complex system of beliefs), the combination mark encompasses everything the name and project stand for. The building graphic's literal meaning paired with the unity signifying swoop accurately convey within two simple images the entire message of the project.
Icon
Using the strongest graphic elements from the logo, this icon was created to serve as an easy identifier of the brand where displaying the full logo would be either visually or spatially inappropriate.
Social Media Posts
Establishing a social media presence was a grossly important part of this project. It was essential that the graphics remained identifiable as a part of our brand, so that our name and message remained linked at all times. We also wished to keep designs clean and simple yet informative. The goal in creating the above works was to not overdo graphic elements in fear of the information getting lost, yet not under-design them to the point where they didn’t catch your eye or were uninteresting to look at.
Infographic
Designed as a carousel post, this infographic creatively displays statistics that are relevant to the overall goal of the project. A darker background was chosen not only to make it stand out amongst our other posts, but also to make sure there was enough contrast between it and the statistics to ensure that they properly stand out.
Orange was selected intentionally for its meaning in colour psychology. With orange being a friendly colour that indicates change and movement, it proves itself to be the perfect colour to represent the meaning and goal of EDIfice.
